Using your kitlens effectively

Most entry level slrs are bundled with a kitlens. People tend to replace their kitlens just because…its a kitlens not knowing they can capture great photos with it before knowing it.

Here’s some tips on maximizing your kitlens:

1. Keep shooting with it. Try bringing your camera anywhere you go and take photos that interests you, its the best practice to also improve your composition and familiarize your camera.

2. Dont think of other lenses first. Before even trying to think of buying other lenses, give your kitlens the time it deserves.

3. Use your kitlens in long exposures and landscapes. 18mm is already considered wide, you can get wonderful landscapes with it, plus filters for these are commonly cheap.

4. Forget the label “just a kitlens”. Having this idea of just a kitlens is a poor mindset, dont underestimate it. So what if your buddies carry those heavy lenses, Your shot will not be compared as apples to oranges.

5. Macro. Get a reverse ring. Try macro photography, it can do wonders with a kitlens

when you think you’ve outgrown your kitlens, experience will tell you what you need to buy next.
