Shooting portraits using ND filters
So you want to shoot portraits out in the sun using off camera flash and at the same time isolate the subject using a shallow depth of field. One way to achieve this is by using an ND filter. ND filters vary in various kinds, depending on how you want to use it.
This technique will require you lots of power for your flash since you will be stacking it with an ND filter which reduces the amount of light. By this way, you can use a smaller f number but at the expense of flash power.
All you need is some practice since most beginners don’t know yet how to use this technique especially when they want to try off camera flash lighting, this could produce very awesome photos.
If you still don’t know what I’m talking about, here are some photos.
