Composing your shots

Think ahead in your mind what you want to achieve before you look into the viewfinder and press that shutter button. Consider these guidelines these are only here to guide you not a must.

The Rule of thirds
Discussed on the previous article, its the primary points of interest in the frame that intersects the third lines. Try not to cut the picture in half, use the lines as your guide.

Always have an interesting angle
Try different angles, it will surprise you what you can do and the results can be quite creative. Pick an angle that will give the photo greate colors and less shadow. You might want to crouch or shoot from above to give you that certain point of view.

Get close to your subject
You can do this by filling the frame with your subject, dont be afraid to do this. It gives a sort of connection with the photo and the viewer.

Clean the clutter and background
Try composing your shots in a way that doesnt disctract the eye away from your subject, it it means you need to move away or adjust your subject then do it. Keep the clutter away from the frame, it helps keep a good photo. If you can seperate the subject from the background it will work as well.

Breaking the Rule
make sure you know the rules before you even try to break them, the guides above are there to help, its a personal preference, you can do anything with your photograph. Create something unique.
